Evelyn Shallo – President/Founder

Evelyn graduated from the Parsons School of Design in NYC in 1987 with her BS in Interior Design. Upon graduation, and with money saved throughout her college years, she opened a 2100 square foot design center in Flemington, NJ called Contemporary Motives.

Contemporary Motives grew quickly which necessitated a move to a larger space. Evelyn moved the Company to another leased location in Flemington and was able to expand her existing business. Shortly after this move, Evelyn changed the name of the business to Interior Motives, as the market largely demanded a more traditional style vs a contemporary style.

In 2001 Evelyn was given the opportunity to purchase the property that contained her leased space. Due to the rapid business growth and her strong reputation within the community, Evelyn was able to procure the necessary funding and purchased the entire property.

Over the past 30 years Evelyn has built a multi-million dollar residential and commercial design business with an 8,500 square foot indoor showroom and a 10,000 square foot outdoor patio showroom. Interior Motives has been and will always be a 100% woman-owned business. Evelyn’s drive to make the design and implementation process easier for both Homeowners and Developers is the mechanism that has driven the success of Interior Motives as an organization.

In addition to running her business, Evelyn has been active in the Flemington Rotary, the Make a Wish Foundation, the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce and the Flemington/Raritan Business Association. She is a frequent donator of time, products or financial resources to various other causes in the community.

The combination of her excellent reputation and her willingness to give to important causes brought her together with ABC’s Extreme Makeover television show. Interior Motives was invited to become an integral part in the home makeovers for needy families in Purdy, New York and Irvington, New Jersey.
